When I was a young boy I would ask myself what I want to be when I grow up. Growing in the
Bronx woke me up. People would choose to deal drugs because they wouldn’t stand their bosses.
They wanted easy money and didn’t work for it. People here advertise the struggle for surviving.
I don’t blame people for robbing stores, went thought it’s against the law. People were just trying to
bring food to the table for another day of life.
Growing up in the streets of the Holland wasn’t safe in the past. It got to the point in which
wearing the wrong color can cost your life. The gangs united like a family because their wasn’t a parent
or person to teach them . It affected me in some way because drugs where introduced in the middle
School .Young kids choose to deal dope because they believed that is the way.
It got to the point in which teachers where scared to attend the school due to violence. I didn’t
like the community and the environment me and my brother were living in. I didn’t want them to grow
Up being a drop out or under the influence.
My parents ended up moving from that community to a different on the Bronx, in which their
Is activities like their going on, but not as loud as the neighborhood. I had to focus and continue with
My education and leave all the gang activity behind. I’m going to take this as experience and apply
Something positive in the future.
